    Edward J. Brennan Jr.

    June 9, 1936 — February 7, 2024

    St. Charles, Missouri

    Edward J. Brennan Jr., age 87, of St. Charles, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on June 9, 1936, to Edward J. and Dorothy Brennan (nee Breer). 

     Edward is survived by his wife Jean (nee Schafler), daughters, Colleen (Craig) Brennan, Bridget (Thomas) Yurachek, and Michelle (James) Hewett; daughter in law, Diana Brennan; stepsons Robbie (Jackie) Stewart, Scott Stewart, Perry (Angel) Stewart; brothers, Gerald (Peggy) Brennan, Terrence (Gerri) Brennan; sisters, Barbara Homyk and Kathleen Jacobsmeyer. He will be missed by his 24 Grandchildren and many Great-Grandchildren and a host of family members and friends. 

    Edward was a postal worker for more than 30 years with United States Postal Service.   

    He also had many accomplishments in his lifetime of which he was very proud. Edward was a member of the postal workers union for more than 50 years. He was a pioneer in starting the United Federation of Postal Clerks Local, serving as its first president in St Charles. He was a Secretary – Treasurer of the APWU National Postal Press Association for 33 years; Central Region Director of APW-ABA; he was prior Editor of the Show Me News newsletter for which he won numerous awards.  

    He was an active member of numerous organizations which include Knights of Columbus, Ancient Order of Hibernians, Loyal Order of Moose, Loyal Order of Squirrels, PPA and APWU.  

    He was a faithful parishioner of St Cletus and St Charles Borromeo parishes. He enjoyed attending parish picnics throughout the Archdiocese during the year. 

    Ed loved to travel, especially his trips to Costa Rica, Ireland and Oregon.  

    He was preceded in death by his son, Kevin P Brennan; daughter, Eileen M Brennan; father, Edward J Brennan Sr; mother, Dorothy L Brennan (nee Breer); and sister Marilyn Benson.
